Tavon Austin missed practice for the second day in a row. He is not one of the handful of players dealing with soft tissue issues or other medical miscellany. A death in the family has kept Austin off the field in what turned out to be a spirited practice under the August sun.
Eugene Sims was out dealing with a death in the family as well. Darian Stewart missed practice, still dealing with a hamstring issue.
Rodger Saffold was in pads, but stuck to just individual drills. Lance Kendricks worked his way back toward full participation too.
Daryl Richardson has claimed the "first snap" starter distinction, but the search for a second and even third part of the running back committee continues. Zac Stacy could be in line for a long look with the starters this week against Denver. He and Pead were getting most of the work with the starters at Tuesday's practice, according to Coach O's report from the scene.
Oh, and there were fights!
... or a tit-for-tat, at least.
Jared Cook and Jo-Lonn Dunbar got into one, and Daren Bates mixed it up with Benny Cunningham and Joe Barksdale.
More from the scene:
Fight!!! Bates hits Cunningham late, Barksdale runs over and takes Bates down!
