St. Louis Rams announce dates for throwback uniforms

The Rams will commemorate the 1999 season on two dates this year.

USA TODAY Sports

The St. Louis Rams announced Tuesday that the team will wear the royal blue and yellow gold throwback jerseys for two home games this season. Each date commemorates an important win from the team's Super Bowl winning season in 1999.

Fans will see the throwback uniforms on Nov. 3 against the Tennessee Titans, who the Rams beat to win Super Bowl XXXIV. Of course, you'll recall that it was none other than Jeff Fisher coaching that team. Say, any chance he'll wear a Titans throwback that week? I somehow doubt it.

The other date for the throwbacks is Dec. 22 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. St. Louis beat Tampa Bay in the NFC Championship game that season. Kurt Warner threw a 30-yard touchdown pass to Ricky Proehl in the fourth quarter to snap a 6-5 Bucs lead and give the Rams an 11-6 win.

"Our throwback jerseys have evoked great fan support and passion over the past few years, and with a home schedule that features both Tennessee and Tampa Bay, we have a unique opportunity to wear our throwback jerseys against opponents that remind fans of the joy that St. Louis Rams football can bring our community," Rams Executive Vice President of Football Operations/C.O.O. Kevin Demoff said. "Some of our fans' greatest memories involve the Buccaneers and Titans games from the 1999 postseason, and this is a great way to celebrate those pinnacle moments in franchise history while wearing the colors of the 1999 championship team."

The Rams were 1-0 last season in the throwbacks.

Single-game tickets for the 2013 season, by the way, go on sale Tuesday.
