Detroit Lions Re-Commit to Matthew Stafford: SB Nation

It wasn’t all that long ago that the Lions made QB Matthew Stafford the highest paid [guaranteed money: $41.7mil] rookie in the history of the NFL. That was until Rams’ QB Sam Bradford stole the spotlight with his $50mil guaranteed in 2010. It hasn’t always been pretty, but four years into Stafford’s six year rookie deal, the Lions are ready to re-commit. He’ll be paid $53mil over the next five years, with $41.5mil guaranteed. Donovan McNabb doesn’t care much for this extension, which will make Stafford a Lion through 2017…

When you look at just the numbers overall, you have to think about 12,000 yards and being the youngest quarterback to reach this feat and also the things he’s been able to accomplish, you know you begin to question this….
