St. Louis Rams 2013 odds: It's looking up

The Rams are a better team, and the bookmakers are starting to notice.

Scott Halleran

Remember when the St. Louis Rams were just kind of a prop bet? A foil for bookmakers and anyone willing to take a chance on a team that might lose all 16 games? Not anymore. The latest odds from the good people in Las Vegas reflect a much better squad with Jeff Fisher at the helm and more talent on the roster.

Rams win total: 7.5 (O: +110; U: -110)

They seem pretty certain about 7.5 wins. Personally, I'd take the over, but I'm not offended at lowball odds. It's been a long time since we've seen the Rams a sure bet to win more than seven games. A long, long time.

As for the rest of the odds, the Rams are 10/1 to win the NFC West. No surprise considering Seattle and San Francisco are 5/6 and 11/10, respectively, to win it. That said, I wouldn't hesitate to put a little down at 10/1. You know why. The Rams only lost once within the division last year. They can compete, as long as they can win some more road games and games outside the division this year. Plus, there's always the possibility of a key injury or two for the more favored teams.

Fisher's squad is 25/1 to win the NFC. San Fran and Seattle are favored there too.

And what about the Super Bowl? 50/1 odds for that to happen. It's a long shot, but stranger things have happened. You never know ... that's all I'm saying.

Odds come via the Las Vegas Hilton and National Football Post.
