Random Ramsdom: St. Louis Rams, NFL News, and tips from Craig Dahl

With only 12 more Thursdays until the 2013 NFL regular season kicks off, the offseason news continues to impress. There was a bit of NFC West drama on Wednesday, and it was caused by a former St. Louis Rams player. You didn’t miss it, did you?

Greg "the leg" Zuerlein Looks For Consistency in 2013: Fox Sports Midwest

Young GZ got off to hot start in his rookie year as kicker for the Rams, nabbing up nicknames left and right. Then, he fizzled late in the season. "Be more consistent," he said. "I started out pretty well, then had a few rough games in the middle of the season. For me, personally, it was probably the worst year I ever had. I wasn't very happy with it." The hope is that the Rams - with a bolstered offense - won’t need to rely upon their kicker as much in 2013, but the Rams need to be confident he can hit from distance when in crunch time. If he wants the nickname "Legatron" back, he’s going to have to earn it.

Just when you thought you’d probably heard the last of Craig Dahl - that is until the Rams/49ers regular season matchup - he opened up on Wednesday, speaking about how the Rams found success against the NFC Champion 49ers, as a result of "tips on film." Cortland Finnegan to the rescue…

What’s Steven Jackson Capable of in Atlanta:

"The first thing teams said when my agent was calling around the league was that I was 30-years-old." You’ve heard ‘em all…no gas in the tank, worn out, and so on and so on, but Jackson now finds himself a starter on one of the NFL’s most explosive offenses, and could be the cog that takes them to the next level. As usual, he’s saying - and doing - all the right things. He’s a great player, and Rams legend, and I wish him the best in 2013.

Hitting the ‘Reset’ Button on Sam Bradford: ESPN NFC West Blog

The Rams offense is going to look very different in 2013. With SJ39 gone - and having loaded up with explosive offensive weapons - gauging how the Rams are going to attack is going to be difficult. Mike Sando points out that it’s like "hitting the reset button on the Bradford era."

Fantasy Football Top 150: RotoWorld

Evan Silva ranks the top 150 fantasy football players heading into the 2013 season. The first Ram off the board - Tavon Austin - should be drafted in the 7th round…right after Danario Alexander. You’re a homer though, and there’s no way you’re waiting that long to scoop him up…

Predicting the NFL’s 2013 Award Winners: Bleacher Report

Spoiler alert! One lucky St. Louis Rams player has been given an award… and it may not be who you think. Ok, it’s probably who you think. At any rate, each of the NFC West team’s win at least one award…except one team who dwells in a desert.

"We’re not an organization of renegades." : St. Louis Post Dispatch

The Rams are becoming a team known for taking risk on potentially problematic players, with a history for finding trouble. At this point, they’ve shown that they can manage it effectively, and have reaped rewards as a result. They’re not just taking anyone, though. In fact, they removed about 20 "bad eggs" from this years draft board.

Here’s a recap of Jim’s Q&A on Wednesday. The Rams' beat writer answers a few of the fan's pertinent questions, and covers a litany of topics about the team and it’s players.
