The third day can bring a lot of value to teams- players falling due to character concerns, small school prospects and unsung prospects can have a big impact early on. The Rams will certainly be hoping that is the case after drafting Barrett Jones with their 4th round pick.
Jones is a vastly underrated lineman from Alabama who fell this far due to injury concerns. Jones was asked to move around quite a bit during his time with the Tide. He's got all the intangibles you look for in a lineman and looks to slot in at left guard for the Rams, a major question mark for the team.
Having a player like Jones on the team is important for the Rams for another reason as well: injuries. Rodger Saffold, Harvey Dahl and Scott Wells all had problems with injuries last year, and having a player like Jones, who could step in and play any of those positions, is huge.
All in all, this is a fantastic pick by the Rams.
