St. Louis Rams 2013 NFL Draft results: T.J. McDonald, Stedman Bailey fan approval poll

No picks in round two? No problem, not for this front office.

J. Meric

Day two of the 2013 NFL Draft is in the books. The St. Louis Rams had just two picks, both in the third round, but they managed to pick a pair of players (say that fast) who round out some major needs on the roster. Let's take a quick look.

T.J. McDonald, S, USC

My initial reaction to this pick was 'meh.' However, I think that's a visceral reaction to not getting the players that were on top of my list. Breaking news, I am not an NFL scout. Les Snead et al are scouts and employ other scouts, and they apparently liked what they saw from McDonald. His father played in the NFL, as a safety too, for 13 years. I tend to believe that usually helps a player adjust faster to NFL life.

He looks more like a replacement for Quintin Mikell, a box safety. Which is fine. We'll see what Chuck Cecil get out of him.

Stedman Bailey, WR, West Virginia

Fantastic pick. Yeah, there's the obvious link with Tavon Austin, both West Virginia teammates. I think that's more important to what they have planned for Sam Bradford. Bradford's offense at OU borrowed from the Air Raid. Austin and Bailey came from Mr. Air Raid himself, Dana Holgorsen (sorry Mike Leach). It looks like Brian Schottenheimer is going to unleash his quarterback this year.

Alright, what do you think about the picks? What kind of ridiculously early grade would you give the Rams' for day two?
