Joe Mays |
The ground has been rumbling for days. The stampede has begun toward the biggest LIVE Mock Draft of the year. I'm the operations commissioner this year, taking some of the burden off of Dan Kadar. Both he, and TST's Joe McAtee are the official "Big Kahuna" Commissioners-at-Large this time around. I'm sure they'll be popping in from time to time too, and 3k will be helping to evaluate trades.
We'll be joined by a host of draft analyst pros. The Drafttek.com crew are here in a huge way. We'll be highlighting a few of them in other articles as rounds change, and threads grow to gargantuan lengths. Russell Lande from thee national Football Post will be here, along with a bevvy of his sports media cohorts. They'll be popping into the draft pick thread and hanging out on Twitter for you mobile device crowd.
Here's a little bit about Drafttek.com Joe Mays:
"Joe is a 2007 graduate of Penn State, where he earned a B.S. degree in Climatology. He's been following the draft since 1995, when former Nittany Lion standouts Ki-Jana Carter, Kerry Collins, and Kyle Brady were all picked in the Top 10. Joe began working for DraftTek.com in February 2008, as the Dolphins Team Analyst. Besides covering Miami during his 5 years with DraftTek, he has also analyzed the Steelers, Bengals, Patriots, and Eagles, the last of which he still covers today. In addition to his work for DraftTek he also co-hosts a sports talk Internet radio show - The Joe Mays & J-Raff Show - on Ustream, Sunday's at 6:30pm."
I'd like to introduce the staff who'll be running things during the draft. First up will be the thread commissioners: You'll see the names DouglasM and NolesTitan in the threads. I'll be taking Day 1, and Noles will be handling Day 2.
Next up is our social media expert: Daniel Doelling. ( @Daniel_Doelling ) He'll be the one you want to follow for everything Twitter.
Our time keeper has strict orders to post your pick at 1 second past your 5 minute time limit to make a pick in the first three rounds. You MUST have a player to be picked submitted with every trade proposal. Failure to do so will make any trade proposal void, and we won't even consider it. This is so the draft keeps moving along, and you MtD veterans know what I'm talking about here.
Time saving hint: Have the comment subject line pre-prepared with "The (team name) select:" then make sure your Draft Prospect list has each player's name, position, and school filled out. You'll be able to copy and paste straight to the comment line. Use the "Reply" line to chat in the thread so you can have your pick line ready to go. If everyone does this, I guarantee we'll chop huge chunks of time off the draft.
