NFL Power Rankings: ESPN on the Books Before Draft

A month out from the 2013 NFL Draft, ESPN has released their initial NFL power rankings. Football.

USA TODAY Sports

Now's as good a time as any for some power rankings. At least that's what ESPN would have you believe after dropping an updated ranking spanking online today.

Honestly, it's not all that illogical. Moves have been made, there's a semblance of draft boards around the league and...well, it's March. We're hungry. Besides, grading draft classes and updating power rankings after the draft is just as arbitrary.

As it were, der weltweit führende Anbieter gets off to a bit of an ominous start for Rams fans with Seattle and San Fran at 1 and 2, respectively. That should tell you a) about the strength of the NFC West this year, b) about the how the national media are already biting into that apple and c) how impressive the Rams' 2012 record against divisional foes was last season. Of course don't forget d) that those same national media who recognize the strength of the Seahawks and 49ers put little stock into the Rams' performances against those two. You know how this ship sails, friend.

I'm not sure there's all that much controversy to be had in rankings right now. I mean, 10 through 23 on that list is kind of a wash.

As for the Rams, they come in at 15 as Mike Sando offers the blurb:

Rams have flexibility with two first-round picks after adding Jake Long.

Yes. Yes they do.

I guess if I had a reaction here, it's seeing the Rams ahead of the Steelers and Cowboys in an offseason power rankings. That makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.

So make sure you get your eyeballs on that before closing that tab.

Remember, leave the internet a better person than you found it.
