Rams free agent news roundup: Taking the pulse of the market one hour in

It's been a flurry of activity, and the moves so far could have a big impact on the Rams.

We're less than an hour into free agency, and already it's been a wild ride. The St. Louis Rams have kept their powder dry so far, but the team's name is bubbling up through the rumor mill.

Just how close are the Rams with Jake Long? A visit is in the offing, but one report out of Miami says he's signed as long as he passes a physical. Offensive linemen are going fast, with the top two guards, Andy Levitre and Louis Vasquez, getting signed in the opening minutes.

Long is, as far as we can tell, the only tackle on the radar for the Rams, at the moment anyway. According to Jim Thomas, the Rams have not talked to Jermon Bushrod, but it may not matter because he's reportedly talking with the Bears.

Steven Jackson is a free agent, in case you forgot. The Packers are said to be the led horse in the race for the veteran running and the Rams' all-time leading rusher.

The Titans have entered the Danny Amendola sweepstakes, joining the Eagles and Ravens as the teams most interested in his services.

Martellus Bennett signed with the Bears, and the Titans grabbed Delanie Walker. That doesn't leave as many suitors as were expected for free agent Jared Cook. He might have scared teams off with his asking price. That could be good news for the Rams.
