Rams Showing Interest in Jared Cook?

Jason La Canfora is reporting that the Rams are among the teams pining for the pass catching tight end.

Yesterday, Rams fans were very anxious, given that all the big news involved their top rivals making blockbuster trades. That's understandable, and given the expectations of the Rams, it's perfectly alright to be nervous about the Seahawks adding Percy Harvin and the 49ers adding Anquan Boldin.

Adding a threat like Jared Cook would give the Rams that 1-2 punch at tight end so many teams are looking for.

But the Rams may be on the hunt to make a big move of their own. Jason La Canfora noted in his free agency update today that the Rams are among the teams interested in Jared Cook (the market for Dustin Keller is apparently unknown).

Cook would fit right in given his connection with Jeff Fisher, and could make it the second year in a row the Rams add a top free agent from Fisher's former team.

Of course, that casts the future of Lance Kendricks in doubt. Kendricks is a capable blocker and receiver, but didn't blow anyone away in terms of production. Still, Kendricks made the most of his opportunities and could grow along side Cook as part of the young nucleus of players on the Rams offense. Adding a threat like Jared Cook would give the Rams that 1-2 punch at tight end so many teams are looking for.

Cook has put up nearly 1300 yards and 7 touchdowns in the previous two years with the Titans, and Sam Bradford arguably provides a more stable quarterback situation than Cook had in Tennessee.

It may not send shock waves throughout the league like the Percy Harvin trade, but the Rams would still have three draft picks in the top 50 and more cash to burn.
