According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, the Rams met with former Bills head coach and more recently the Browns defensive coordinator Dick Jauron regarding their open defensive coordinator position.
The Rams and Rob Ryan had an agreement in place until Rob Ryan decided to turn down the Rams' offer as he appeared to get cold feet about running a 4-3 defense.
The Rams would not have to worry about that with Dick Jauron as he has run the 4-3 defense his entire career.
Dick Jauron has a ton of coaching experience and has two stints as a head coach in Chicago and Buffalo, but he was less than impressive with a record of 60-82.
For the past two seasons Jauron has been the defensive coordinator for Cleveland and he did a decent job considering he was working with a defense with many holes. His defense finished ranked 23rd overall both years.
Dick Jauron would be the third coach on the staff with head coaching experience if he is hired, and he would surely be an upgrade over not having a defensive coordinator at all.
Keep in mind this update is from Jason La Canfora, who reported Jeff Fisher to Miami as a done deal, so in no way should we take this report as more than what it is. A report.
