We've grown accustomed to watching Tavon Austin break ankles with the football in his hands. But it was Austin whose ankle was hurting in the St. Louis Rams' loss to the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.
Austin took an end-around 56 yards down the field on the second-to-last play of the third quarter, with the Rams trailing 23-3. He rolled his left ankle at the end of his run. Already demoralized Rams fans watched in horror as the team's first-round pick writhed in pain on the field, two yards away from the goal line.
He came back in to field a punt on Arizona's first drive of the fourth quarter. The punt resulted in a touchback, and Austin's day ended there. He was later seen on the sideline getting his left ankle taped and iced down.
If you missed it, Tavon Austin is done for the day. Keep it rested, kid. pic.twitter.com/dWKPdYkfFb

No word on Austin's status was available following the game. Hopefully, Austin can rest and get well this week, and be ready to go next Sunday. Jeff Fisher has his Monday press conference at 5:00 p.m. Central, and should have more info on Austin's injury at that point.
