"The Replacements." Evaluating the Backup QB’s: NFL.com
2013 has been a year riddled with backup quarterback appearances. Some of them have stuck as a result of solid play, while others - like the one in St. Louis - was jettisoned into the spotlight as the team’s starter was lost to injury. Marc Sessler highlights a few of the league’s standout backups…Kellen Clemens wasn’t worthy of a mention. Should he have been?

After revealing 126 modern-era nominees for the Class of 2014 in September, the Pro Football Hall of Fame is whittling that list to 25 semifinalists. The results will be revealed Wednesday on NFL Network during a live special, "Pro Football Hall of Fame: The First Cut," which will air at 10 p.m. ET. In the meantime, we asked NFL Media historian Elliot Harrison to predict the 25 players who will make the first cut.

Simply put, Jeff Fisher thinks the refs blew the call. "I personally feel like the flag went down for a reason, and it looked like a foul to me," Fisher said Tuesday, via ESPNBoston.com's Mike Reiss. "So, that's my opinion. Because I was not on the sideline, obviously, I can voice my opinion [without getting fined]."
The NFC West has become one of the strongest, toughest divisions in the NFL….but it’s not the toughest. At least according to these divisional power rankings, it’s not. The AFC and NFC West grab top honors, finishing first and second respectively.
I’ve got good news and I’ve got…well…some unsuspected news. I’ll start with the good news. John Breech is picking the Rams in an upset to beat the Bears in a close one. What you may not have expected, though, is that another quarterback has emerged to lead them to victory… Kellen "Clemons."
The
Seahawks have gotten off to a very impressive [NFL best] 10-1 record. They’ve still got five games remaining in their 2013 campaign, and none of their opponents will be pushovers.
ESPN’s Terry Blount predicts the Seahawks will finish their year at 14-2, and their second loss isn’t courtesy of the Rams in Week 17. In related news, the Rams are two games behind the

"I’ll have, I am sure, a few opportunities where it will be Chris and I going against each other," Kyle said, via the Chicago Tribune. "It is going to be really weird, but I already told him, ‘Do you realize how lucky we are to have this problem?’"
After an impressive, yet somewhat surprising, 6th place ranking in PFF’s Quarter One rankings, the Rams slide ever so slightly down the offensive line rankings in Q2. Chris Williams appeared to be detrimental to their ranking [though they corrected that], but Jake Long has been playing some of his best football.
Robert Quinn is clearly the name most often mentioned when discussing the Rams and any chance of sending a player to Hawaii. But you’re forgetting someone. The Rams most accurate passer…
After emerging as a key running back last season, Daryl has also emerged as a key contributor to the Rams’ off the field efforts. In addition to participating in a variety of the team’s community outreach efforts, Daryl is also spearheading some of his own community initiatives focused on working with kids.
Bernie Miklasz will admit that he didn’t expect to be impressed by Kellen Clemens, following Sam Bradford’s season-ending injury. He’s played better than expected, though. Bernie then goes on to rank the league’s backup QB’s. He’s impressed…but places Clemens in the bottom quarter of his backup QB rankings.
As a Rams fan, there have been moments throughout the season which may have forced you to choose between "
gutting it out" or "
preparing for the draft." Regardless, the team has not given up hope on a push for the postseason. The Rams - who find themselves in last place in the NFC West - also find themselves two games out of second place. Ill ask you again, who will you be cheering for on Monday night [49ers at
Redskins] if the Rams find themselves winners on Sunday?
It’s not often you see the Rams being picked to win on Sundays [or the occasional Monday]. Not only are the Rams heading into Sunday as one-point-favorites, but they’re making believers out of the SB Nation expert panel.
Rather than just sit on the bench and wait his turn, Stedman Bailey has made an impact in other areas to prove to the coaches what he can do, and that he is willing to do anything to make that point. Bailey has played a lot of special teams this season on the punt return and kick return units a spot in which that he is forced to tackle, something he wasn’t asked to do at West Virginia.

The only quarterback from the 2002
NFL draft to take a snap this season, McCown has emerged as the league's poster boy for perseverance and is partly responsible for making the playoffs still possible for the Bears. Dave McGinnis, McCown’s head coach during his first two years in the NFL, is proud of him…
