2013 NFL Draft: FS Big Board

The 2013 NFL Draft looks to offer a deep pool of free safety talent. Who's rising to the top of the board?

John Rieger-US PRESSWIRE

The college football season is all wrapped up, so no more new tape. And yes, as you can imagine, I am struggling to cope.

What am I going to do on Saturday? I can't flip through eight different games on Saturday taking random notes as I go..."#71, Bowling Green - top heavy, soft hand work, slow off the snap"...I might just take notes on my daughter as she runs around our place, high on fructose and glucose and all the 'closes.

"Quick feet, but your eyes were rolled back in your head and you were screaming/wheezing/screezing as loud as you could. Really undisciplined and unfocused."

Send help.

In the meantime, here's my top 15 eligible free safeties for the 2013 NFL Draft:

# Name School Yr.
1 Eric Reid LSU Jr.
2 Kenny Vaccaro Texas Sr.
3 T.J. McDonald USC Sr.
4 Tony Jefferson Oklahoma Jr.
5 Phillip Thomas Fresno St. RS Sr.
6 Bacarri Rambo Georgia RS Sr.
7 D.J. Swearinger South Carolina Sr.
8 Brandan Bishop North Carolina St. Sr.
9 Ed Reynolds Stanford RS Soph.
10 Nickoe Whitley Mississippi St. RS Jr.
11 Rashard Hall Clemson RS Sr.
12 Zeke Motta Notre Dame Sr.
13 Bradley McDougald Kansas Sr.
14 Daimion Stafford Nebraska Sr.
15 John Boyett Medflag_medium Oregon RS Sr.

I don't think any of those underclassmen are going back to school, but if anyone has seen that they are just let me know and I'll slide everyone up a spot.

Who barely missed the cut? Josh Evans (Florida), C.J. Barnett (Ohio St.) and Kemal Ishmael (UCF) were the three next seniors. Three juniors are also going to be in that late mix, IMO: Ty Zimmerman (Kansas St.), Kenny Ladler (Vanderbilt) and Charles Sawyer (Ole Miss). Tevin McDonald (UCLA) and Derron Smith (Fresno St.) were the only redshirt sophs who have a shot at being drafted along with Reynolds (BTW, that 2015 FS class is shaping up very nicely).

As always, I don't watch non-FBS football, so Rontez Miles of California University of Pennsylvania, no board for you! I saw him at Kent State before he transferred, and he wouldn't have made it anyway, but I have a personal gripe here: I hate schools that are named for a place that isn't in that place. Miami of Ohio? Burn it down. Washington University of St. Louis? WHY IS THIS STILL ALLOWED TO OPERATE? Pretty sure this is the worst thing ever. Pretty sure.

In any case, there's the list. If you've missed the old boards, check em out: offensive tackle, wide receiver and guard. Mocking the Draft has boarded the free safeties and strong safeties together, but you should still check em out. You can find all the MTD position board here.

Disagreements? Vehement disagreements? Steroid-fueled, spit-marked violence-infused vehement disagreements? I'm all ears!
