Thirty-two prospects eligible for the 2013 NFL Draft are in play tonight y my estimation. That's not an insignificant contribution by any means. Considering that 10 of those (11 if you count Alabama OLB C.J. Mosley who's returning to school) could factor into the first two rounds, this game will be referenced quite often in April in the lead-in to the 2013 NFL Draft.
By now, we know most of the names. It's the matchups that are most intriguing.
Alabama C Barrett Jones v. Notre Dame NT Louis Nix: Hide ya kids, hide ya wife. This is NFL prospect on NFL prospect. Gonna be fun.
Notre Dame TE Tyler Eifert v. Alabama LBs Nico Johnson, C.J. Mosley, Adrian Hubbard & Trey DePriest: Eifert's likely the first tight end off the board in the 2013 NFL Draft. Strong, big, plus hands, clean routes, decent blocker, and he's got to go up against the best linebacking corps in the country...by FAR. This should be fun.
Notre Dame MLB Manti Te'o v. Alabama's running game: Alabama's ground game, led by Eddie Lacy and T.J. Yeldon, is enough to dismantle most defenses. Notre Dame's 2012 defense isn't most defenses. The market isn't high on 4-3 MLBs, but if it ever would be, April will be the time. Te'o has a special blend of power, speed, tackling technique and leadership. I won't go as far to say he's the perfect 4-3 MLB prospect...but if he's not, I don't know that we'll ever see one.
So yeah. Considering just those three alone, this is crucial tape for NFL scouts. Oh, and there's a national championship at stake.
Yall know yall are watching. I am too. Hang out.
