Are there more changes coming at Rams Park? Last week the St. Louis Rams fired linebackers coach Blake Williams and signaled that his father Gregg Williams will not be back when/if Roger Goodell allows him to return to the NFL. This week, we've learned that more changes could be in store for the Rams, starting with strength and conditioning coach Rock Gullickson.
Jim Thomas of the Post-Dispatch suggested that Rock could be the next to get a pink slip in this video with Bryan Burwell (which may or may not work, depending on what kind of mood the PD's 1997 web site is in).
Fisher tried to hire away the Titans strength and conditioning guy, Steve Watterson, last year, but the Titans put the clampdown on that. Thomas suggests that Watterson could be in the mix again.
He also wonders if keeping Rock might not be in the cards too, given the team's relative success with injuries this year. That's a completely bogus line of thought. Gullickson was here when the Rams were plagued with historic levels of injury. Luck plays a role in the injury bug as much as anything, but Fisher's prudent management of his players contributed as well.
As for the team's vacant defensive coordinator job, Thomas said patience was required to see what direction the Rams take. Clancy Pendergast is one name, but by no means the only one on Fisher's list.
