It was no secret that the St. Louis Rams had injury issues on the offensive line during the 2012 season. Well, those issues seemed to follow them into the off-season too.
Rams' center Scott Wells had arthroscopic knee surgery earlier this month to repair torn cartilage. The most recent procedure was performed on the same knee Wells had surgery on during last year's preseason. It was first reported by the Post-Dispatch.
Wells sustained the injury on his first practice back after recovering from a broken foot. He played the remainder of the season through the pain. He has had an off year of sorts, after signing with the Rams in the off-season. The former Pro Bowl center only played in seven games.
The Rams played better with Wells in the lineup, and will need him to be completely healthy next season. There are other issues – right tackle and guard – that need to be addressed in the upcoming months. Center does not need to be added on to the list.
