It was a short visit for the Rob Ryan. He came to town Friday evening, met with Jeff Fisher and the St. Louis Rams on Saturday and left town again Saturday evening, roughly 24 hours after arriving. Not with him on his return flight, a contract to be the Rams defensive coordinator.
Rams interview with Rob Ryan for D coordinator spot is complete. He departed without a contract

So what does it mean? Well, we know that it means Ryan and the Rams met and did not sign a contract. That's all we know. It doesn't mean it won't happen; it doesn't mean it will happen.
Oh, it also means that last week's breathless reporting that Ryan to the Rams was a done deal is yet another reminder that being first and being accurate are not the same thing.
Ryan is still the only known candidate the Rams have approached about the vacant defensive coordinator position. With all the head coaching vacancies now filled, the open coordinator jobs are rapidly being filled. Ryan might not have many opportunities left this year if he intendeds to coach this year. Of course, he could always take Fisher's approach, sit out a year, decompress and be at the top of the list next year.
The saga continues.
