Interesting side stories are popping up regarding last night's first round of the NFL Draft. Over the next few days or weeks we'll hear more about the war room tales, but my favorite so far is the one regarding the Oakland-Miami trade.
It seems Miami called Oakland and just threw them an offer, thinking the worst that could happen was they said "No!". The Raiders called them back and said "YES!" to a swap of the #3 overall pick for Miami's #12 and #42 second round choice. If you look at the pick value charts, Miami came out ahead by 520 points. Never hurts to ask, eh?
Given the oft heard statements by NFL experts about this draft class being weaker than most, I'm surprised at how many moves we've seen in the bottom of the first round. The Rams traded their 2nd round pick in the Tavon Austin deal, but if you blink you'll more than likely miss Les Snead slashing his way around the draft board.
