Welcome to SEC Day here at TST.
Today, as we roll through the second week of college football, we'll be highlighting four SEC games worth checking in on at some point today. While next week give us much better options, this week's a bit thin. But if we can make it to week four, that's when we get into mus see action.
Auburn at Mississippi St. (12 p.m., ESPN) - MTD Watch Notes
I had Auburn in the late thread last week in their loss to Clemson. This one's a tough matchup as well.
While Mississippi St. CB Johnthan Banks will be an option for many teams around the back end of the first round, Rams fans will want to check out DT Josh Boyd, G Gabe Jackson and OLB Cameron Lawrence.
Auburn, on the other hand, needs to solidify the program post-Cam. This is a game they can win. It's therefore one they need to. Keep an eye on WR Emory Blake again.
#24 Florida at Texas A&M (3:30 p.m., ESPN)
Welcome to the SEC, Ags. You'll want to watch the beginning of this one just for the, uh, culture. I'm being nice, because College Station, Texas, is...uh...a place that exists. With people. Interesting people.
But you'll also want to watch to get a good look at both of A&M's offensive tackles: LT Luke Joeckel and RT Jake Matthews. And while I see Sean Porter as a 3-4 OLB, I wouldn't be surprised to see a 4-3 team taking him and putting him at the Sam.
Other MTD Watch Notes:
Miami at #21 Kansas St.. (12:00 p.m., FX)
Other prospects worth checking out for Rams fans:
#11 Ohio St, OLB Etienne Sabino (v. UCF - 12 p.m., ESPN2) - Still one of the most underrated OLBs in the country IMO
#9 South Carolina FS D.J. Swearinger (v. East Carolina - 12:21 p.m., ESPN3/SEC Network) - Could be the top FS prospect come April
