Under the watchful eye of replacement referees, the St. Louis Rams hit the field for their second day practice wearing pads. Work is still underway at Rams Park as I write this, but there are a couple of updates to pass along for hungry fans that could not make it out to practice on Thursday.
Danario Alexander is apparently closer to returning. He went through individual drills with the receivers, but did not participate in the 11-on-11 work with the rest of the team.
Though we kind of already knew this, it is worth pointing out again. Trumaine Johnson and Bradley Fletcher have been working as the second team cornerbacks. Fletcher has been the third corner on the field in nickel packages so far through camp, and reviews are mostly positive on his recovery from last year's torn ACL. Having viable starters in the third and fourth cornerback spots on the depth chart will be quite a change for the Rams.
