Five more players have been released by the St. Louis Rams, according to Jim Thomas. None of the names on the list of cuts so far will shock you, as most the players released were not projected for the final roster. The Rams have now cut five players and have five more moves to make to get the roster to 75.

Those cut in the latest round of confirmed moves are: WR Charles Gilbert, WR Brandon Harvey, OL Kevin Hughes, LB Alex Hoffman-Ellis and RB Calvin Middleton.

Of that group, Middleton could find his way onto the practice squad.

The five players released on Sunday through Monday morning were: FB Todd Anderson, DT John Gill, LB Noah Keller, K Garrett Lindholm and RB Nicholas Schweiger.

Several NFL teams have moved players to injured reserve or the PUP list as part of their roster moves, but the Rams really lack candidates for that. Among the injured players, the ailments are relatively minor.

Something to watch out for is whether or not any of the veterans on the bubble get released in this wave of cuts. Often times teams will let some of the more experienced players go early in order to give them a chance to catch on somewhere else.
