Week 3 of the preseason is here, the biggest week of the lead up to days when NFL football games matter. Games this week matter slightly more than they did the week before, with more starters on the field longer and more pages from the playbook to be revealed. The St. Louis Rams faced off against the Dallas Cowboys last season, in the regular season, to disastrous results. Will a preseason tilt reveal some improvement?
This will be a good test for the Rams run defense, a unit that DeMarco Murray set records against last year. De facto defensive coordinator Blake Williams has pulled improved performances from his linebackers out of each subsequent week in the practice and the preseason. Michael Brockers and Kendall Langford will also be very important in challenging the Dallas line.
For Sam Bradford and the offense, this is the second straight 3-4 defense they will face this week. The Chiefs had no answers for the play action, but Rob Ryan's unit should be a little tougher challenge. Bradford was sharper in Week 2 than the week before, and the same goes for the offensive line, who gave their quarterback long periods of quiet reflection in the pocket last week. Can they do the same this week and with Scott Wells in the mix for the first time?
Here are the keys to the game for the Rams, and here's a history of the two teams going head to head.
