Andre Carter Visiting Rams On Wednesday

Free agent defensive end Andre Carter will visit with the St. Louis Rams on Wednesday, the team told Turf Show Times. Carter's visit to St. Louis follows a Tuesday work out for the Oakland Raiders.

Carter, 33, had 10 sacks with the Patriots last season, tied with Mark Anderson for the most on the team. He tore his quad, and his season ended after just 14 games. He is an 11-year veteran with 76 career sacks. Last year was the fourth time in his career that he reached double digit sack numbers.

There is a connection with Carter. He played for the Washington Redskins from 2006 through 2010. Gregg Williams was the Redskins' defensive coordinator when the team signed Carter, and he played for Williams in 2006 and 2007. He had 16.5 sacks during that two-year stretch. Though Williams is chasing Col. Kurtz through the Golden Triangle, the Rams still use a version of his defensive system.

Carter can play both defensive end and outside linebacker, though his most productive seasons have come with his hand in the dirt.
