The St. Louis Rams play their first game under head coach Jeff Fisher on Sunday afternoon on the road against the Indianapolis Colts. Fisher should know the Colts, having spent the better part of his coaching career in the AFC South. That was a much different Colts team than the on they face to open the preseason.
Sam Bradford knows a little about the pressure of being a No. 1 pick. Andrew Luck, the Colts' rookie quarterback, will find out more about on Sunday when he make his NFL debut. Luck will likely play two to three series or the entire first quarter, depending how the pace of things goes.
Bradford is a starting over, and could be facing a Colts team more aggressive in the preseason than the one they opened against last season. Fisher and Co. sounded less concerned with the final score than looking for a mastery of the basics from his team. Good tackling, precise blocking, solid fundamentals and a spirited pace will be the most important things on Fisher's watch list.
How well players do those things could change the shape of a handful of position battles in Rams camp.
