Obviously, the St. Louis Rams thought highly of running back Isaiah Pead, highly enough to use a second-round pick to snag him in the draft this year. Just how highly they thought of him may surprise you.

Head coach Jeff Fisher has thrown out the Chris Johnson comparisons before in talking about Pead. Apparently that is more than just media hyperbole from the man.

Daniel Jeremiah, a former Eagles scout and currently with NFL.com, relayed on Tuesday that Pead drew the CJ2K comparisons inside the building at Rams Park this year. As relayed via Rotoworld:

"I really liked him when I evaluated him," Jeremiah said of Pead. "And from talking to the guys in St. Louis, I know they're very high on him. Jeff Fisher sees some traits in (Pead) that remind him of Chris Johnson."

Fisher echoed those thoughts on an NFL Network appearance from camp on Tuesday. He told the network this about Pead:

"... tremendous speed, quickness, and vision out of the backfield."

Now before we get too carried away, let's remember that the Rams and Pead have a long way to go before the start of the season. Pead lacks the pure straight line speed that CJ2K has, or had as it were, but there are more than enough players in the NFL who have made a nice living making plays with explosiveness and elusiveness over sheer speed.
