The St. Louis Rams start training camp a week from Saturday, on July 28, when the full squad is due to report. Rookies will be in the house on July 24, starting their prep a little earlier than the veterans. Among the position groups that will be closely watched are the Rams running backs.
For the first time in forever, the Rams appear to have a viable backup, complement to Steven Jackson with second-round pick Isaiah Pead. So where did the Rams stand on our preseason list of running back rankings for all 32 teams?
23. St. Louis Rams
Steven Jackson has been one of the league's best, most-consistent running backs since 2004. Unfortunately, he was also the only talented member of a putrid offense that leaned heavily on him. He will still get carries and yards, but his elusiveness has faded. Backup Isaiah Pead gives the group some much needed speed.
This was a tough list to rank. There are a number of teams with elite talent at the position, even more with a very good duo or trio of running backs.
Where do you think they should be ranked?
