My look at the 2012 college football landscape with an eye toward the 2013 NFL Draft (and beyond) continues over at Mocking the Draft today with Clemson, the most Clemson team ever.
It's hard not to prepare for the ACC's Tigers this year and not start with Sammy Watkins. He was so, so, soooooo good last year. Of course, his weed and pill possession charge from May doesn't help his stock, but two things:
A.) This will be his sophomore year (no RS, so no 2013 NFL Draft eligibility), so there's plenty of time for him to learn from the transgression and mature.
B.) He immediately landed on Jeff Fisher's 2014 NFL Draft board because of it.
Maybe of more import to Rams fans is Clemson's linebacking corps. It's deep, it's talented and it's young. That alone should put them on your viewing calendar. Keep an eye out for sophomore pairing Stephone Anthony and Tony Steward, who is coming back from an ACL injury.
And don't ignore Malliciah Goodman. I could see him adding some bulk to his frame and being a run-stopping DE; that could be a worthwhile day 3 pick to cycle with Chris Long and Robert Quinn along with the option to throw that player at DT from time to time (think C.J. Ah You).
In all, Clemson's a team Rams fans might want to check out a few times this year. And with a Clemson-Auburn Saturday night game on opening weekend, you might not want to wait until later on in the year to do so.
