St. Louis Rams head coach is one of several high profile NFL figures who will be pitching in later this month in memory of his former offensive coordinator Mike Heimerdinger. Fisher, Mike Shanahan, Gary Kubiak and others will headline the Drive For Dinger fundraiser on June 28 in Tennessee to raise money to help cancer patients.

Heimerdinger was Fisher's offensive coordinator from 2000 through 2004 and again from 2008 through 2010. He was the one that helped convince Fisher to loosen the reigns and throw the ball a little more, so it's said. He was diagnosed with cancer in November of 2010, and finished out the season as the Titans' OC. His friend's condition no doubt contributed to what was a stressful year for Fisher.

Heimerdinger died in September of last year.

The fundraiser will support the Meals 2 Heal program, which provides food and support for cancer patients. Heimerdinger had to cut out red meat and avoid pesticides, etc. on his other food. For too many Americans, that's a dramatic shift in diet, not to mention an expensive one.
