3k's 2013 NFL Mock Draft 1.0

Oh, you gon see Lane Kiffin this year. Believe dat.
Oh, you gon see Lane Kiffin this year. Believe dat.

There is no end. Nor is there a beginning. Only the endless cycle of draft that permeates every corner, every nook of the NFL household. So it is with this 3-round 2013 mock.

No, the actual 2013 NFL Draft won't look anything like this.

There will be trades. Small school guys will jump into the mix. Expected developments won't occur, and guys will go back to school. And eight guys from Alabama won't go in the first three rounds...or will they?

(Random note: adding "or will they?" to the end of anything a year out makes it very interesting. Example: My neighbors won't assassinate a Mossad agent in Istanbul this year............or will they? OR IS IT CONSTANTINOPLE?!)

(Second random note: referencing Constantinople is always suggested.)

Where were we? Yes. Mockery. Three round of it after the draft. But first, a far too predictable aperitif:

Round 1

1.) Seattle Seahawks - Matt Barkley: QB, USC

Look. It's hard to get away from this. His tape in 2011 was strong, and the 2012 schedule sets up perfectly (mark down the Nov. 24 game vs. Notre Dame now). And when you return WRs Robert Woods and Marqise Lee, well, the needle points in this direction.

94 more picks after the jump.

2.) Arizona Cardinals - Tyler Wilson: QB, Arkansas

3.) Miami Dolphins - Robert Woods: WR, USC

4.) Cleveland Browns - Sam Montgomery: DE, LSU

Montgomery, Mingo. Montgomery, Mingo. Barkgomery...Bingo!

5.) Jacksonville Jaguars - Jake Matthews: OT, Texas A&M

6.) Minnesota Vikings - Johnathon Hankins: DT, Ohio St.

7.) Indianapolis Colts - Jackson Jeffcoat: DE, Texas

8.) Kansas City Chiefs - Tyler Bray: QB, Tennessee

Bray has to stop the tattoos and start the weight gain. Six and a half feet tall at 210 lbs.? NFL DEs gonna love it.

9.) Oakland Raiders - Johnathan Banks: CB, Mississippi St.

10.) Buffalo Bills - Logan Thomas: QB, Va. Tech

11.) Tennessee Titans - Barkevious Mingo: DE, LSU

12.) St. Louis Rams (via Washington Redskins) - D.J. Fluker: OT, Alabama

13.) Carolina Panthers - Marquess Wilson: WR, Washington St.

14.) New York Jets - Keenan Allen: WR, Cal

This WR class is tough to project. Plenty of talent, but guys are on an island.

15.) Rams - T.J. McDonald: FS, USC

I had him going to the Rams a year ago. Might as well.

16.) Cincinnati Bengals - Barrett Jones: G, Alabama

17.) Tampa Bay Buccaneers - David Amerson: CB, North Carolina St.

18.) New Orleans - Brandon Jenkins: DE, Florida St.

19.) Denver Broncos - Tom Wort: ILB, Oklahoma

Wort's my favorite player on that Sooner defense. Wonderful instincts.

20.) Chicago Bears - Justin Hunter: WR, Tennessee

His injury last year derailed what could have been a comeback season for the Vols. As it was, injuries took Bray and Hunter out of the mix, and Knoxville watched their team stumble through. If Hunter's knee is good to go, he could be a huge name in 2012.

21.) Dallas Cowboys - Shariff Floyd: DT, Florida

22.) Detroit Lions - Merrill Noel: CB, Wake Forest

23.) Philadelphia - Manti Te'o: ILB, Notre Dame

24.) San Diego Chargers - Xavier Rhodes: CB, Florida St.

25.) New York Giants - Jarvis Jones: OLB, Georgia

26.) Houston Texans - Chris Faulk: OT, LSU

27.) San Francisco - Star Lotulelei: DT, Utah

28.) Pittsburgh - Louis Nix: DT, Notre Dame

29.) New England - Kwame Geathers: DT, Georgia

And so ends the nose tackle run. Lots of big bodies going into this season on the D-line across the nation.

30.) Green Bay - Marcus Lattimore: RB, S. Carolina

31.) Atlanta Falcons - Kawann Short: DT, Purdue

32.) Baltimore Ravens - Josh Shirley: DE, Washington

Shirley's one of those names that hasn't made a ton of noise yet, but could well find himself high on boards come January.

Round 2

33 (1).) Seahawks - Keenan Davis: WR, Cal

34 (2).) Cardinals - Dion Bailey: OLB, USC

35 (3).) Dolphins - Tyler Eifert: TE, Notre Dame

36 (4).) Browns - Tony Jefferson: SS, Oklahoma

37 (5).) Jaguars - Alvin Bailey: G, Arkansas

38 (6).) Vikings - Josh Boyce: WR, TCU

I was tempted to add TCU QB Casey Pachall to this draft, but I'm guessing he returns for the 2014 season. Boyce, though, could explode this year.

39 (7).) Colts - Jelani Jenkins: OLB, Florida

40 (8).) Chiefs - Robert Lester: FS , Alabama

41 (9).) Bengals (via Raiders) - Knile Davis: RB, Arkansas

42 (10).) Bills - Kenny Stills: WR, Oklahoma

43 (11).) Titans - Landry Jones: QB, Oklahoma

44 (12).) Redskins - Devin Street: WR, Pitt

45 (13).) Panthers - Seantrel Henderson: OT, Miami

46 (14).) Jets - Ronald Powell: DE, Florida

47 (15).) Rams - Jonathan Cooper: G, UNC

I've been a fan of Cooper's for a minute. Homer pick? Sure, why not.

48 (16).) Bengals - Oday Aboushi: OT, Virginia

49 (17).) Buccaneers - Alex Hurst: OT, LSU

50 (18).) Broncos - Jake Stoneburner: TE, Ohio St.

51 (19).) Bears - Akeem Spence: DT, Illinois

52 (20).) Cowboys - Keith Price: QB, Washington

The 2013 QB class looks pretty loaded a year out. Price would make sense for the Cowboys as they begin to look at post-Romo options.

53 (21).) Lions - Travis Frederick: G, Wisconsin

54 (22).) Eagles - Ray-Ray Armstrong: SS, Miami

55 (23).) Chargers - Khaled Holmes: C, USC

56 (24).) Giants - Xavier Nixon: OT, Florida

57 (25).) Texans - Tyrann Mathieu: CB, LSU

Where to mock the Honey Badger? This issue isn't going to go away any time soon. As I see it, his size and the scheme that allows him to sit in a rover-type role are hindrances that won't help his NFL prospects.

58 (26).) 49ers - Nickoe Whitley: FS, Mississippi St.

59 (27).) Steelers - Micah Hyde: CB, Iowa

60 (28).) Patriots - Christine Michael: RB, Texas A&M

Maybe my favorite sleeper of the 2013 prospects at this point, Michael's 2010 and 2011 injuries really derailed his career to this point. And sure, he could go the Chris Polk route. But if the Aggies lean on the run game in Ryan Tannehill's aftermath, it could mean big things for the former standout.

61 (29).) Packers - Fou Fonoti: OT, Michigan St.

62 (30).) Falcons - Justin Pugh: OT, Syracuse

63 (31).) Ravens - Eric Reid: FS, LSU

Round 3

64 (1).) Seahawks - Malliciah Goodman: DE, Clemson

65 (2).) Cardinals - Dion Jordan: DE, Oregon

66 (3).) Dolphins - Nico Johnson: OLB, Alabama

67 (4).) Browns - Joseph Fauria: TE, UCLA

68 (5).) Jaguars - Da'Rick Rogers: WR, Tennessee

69 (6).) Vikings - C.J. Mosley: ILB, Alabama

70 (7).) Colts - Andre Ellington: RB, Clemson

71 (8).) Chiefs - Bacarri Rambo: FS, Georgia

Good name, good tape, good pick.

72 (9).) Raiders - Tavon Austin: WR, W. Virginia

73 (10).) Bills - Jesse Williams: DT, Alabama

74 (11).) Titans - Cyril Richardson: OT, Baylor

75 (12).) Redskins - DeMarcus Miliner: CB, Alabama

76 (13).) 49ers (via Panthers) - John Simon: DE, Ohio St.

77 (14).) Jets - Denard Robinson: QB, Michigan

78 (15).) Rams - Gerald Hodges: OLB, Penn St.

79 (16).) Bengals - Roy Roundtree: WR, Michigan

80 (17).) Buccaneers - Kenny Vaccaro: SS, Texas

81 (18).) Saints - Arthur Brown: ILB, Kansas St.

Is it possible that brother Bryce (drafted by the Eagles in the 7th round of the 2012 NFL Draft) is a bigger name by this point?

82 (19).) Broncos - Ricky Wagner: OT, Wisconsin

83 (20).) Dolphins (via Bears) - Jordan Poyer: CB, Oregon St.

84 (21).) Cowboys - Ryan Swope: WR, Texas A&M

85 (22).) Lions - Jarrick Williams: SS, Alabama

86 (23).) Eagles - Tavarres King: WR, Georgia

87 (24).) Chargers - Cobi Hamilton: WR, Arkansas

88 (25).) Giants - Desmond Trufant: CB, Washington

89 (26).) Texans - Marquis Flowers: SS, Arizona

90 (27).) 49ers - Braden Hansen: G, BYU

91 (28).) Steelers - Montee Ball: RB, Wisconsin

92 (29).) Patriots - David Quessenberry: OT, San Diego St.

93 (30).) Packers - Philip Lutzenkirchen: TE, Auburn

94 (31).) Falcons - Wes Horton: DE, USC

95 (32).) Ravens - Tanner Hawkinson: OT, Kansas
