With less than three weeks to go until the 2012 NFL Draft, the rumors and speculation are heating up. Players are climbing up draft boards as teams get more face time with prospects to start putting a real person next to the guy they see on tape. As for the St. Louis Rams, their intentions with the sixth pick are getting harder and harder to decipher.
I took a stab at prediction in the latest 2012 NFL Mock Draft at SBNation.com.
And the pick was:
Trent Richardson, RB, Alabama
Jeff Fisher loves to run the ball. In St. Louis, he needs to run the ball since the Rams have to hit the reset button on Sam Bradford's career. Richardson will pair nicely with Steven Jackson, who turns 29 this summer, and gives this offense a dynamic playmaker.
Really I just made that pick to troll 3k ... kidding. He's truly the best player available in that scenario and would help the Rams offense tremendously. Remember, Schottenheimer et al are expected to take it slow with Sam Bradford this year, waiting to unleash the full downfield attack until they get the line sorted out and Bradford's feet back under him in the new offense and a year removed from nearly being trampled under foot last year.
Supposedly the Rams would like to do more trading, downward, but they need to find a partner for that. It could happen as teams get interested in players like Quinton Coples or Melvin Ingram, pass rushers being undervalued by experts in this draft.
