The Bills selected Courtney Upshaw with their first round pick. Iplaythedrums is back tonight to select:

Alfonzo Dennard, CB, Nebraska

Pick Grade:

B

"The Bills managed to intercept 20 passes last year, but allowed over a 90.0 average passer rating. The top two corners, Terrance McGee and Drayton Florence, are each 31, and Leodis McKelvin hasn't lived up to his draft status. Picking Dennard would add youth to team up with last year's 2nd rounder Aaron Williams, creating a potential pair of predecessors to replace the aging starters. He would also add an immediate impact in nickel and dime roles. This pick also holds the most value, as there isn't a wide receiver worth taking at this point in the 2nd."

Analysis after the jump.

I'm not as convinced as iplaythedrums that there isn't a wide receiver the Bills could add here. Mohamed Sanu and Ruben Randle would both be a good value, but that's just nitpicking.

The fact is that after these two picks (and the additions in free agency) the Bills have done some serious upgrades to their defense. They still need to add some weapons for Ryan Fitzpatrick and it's a tough choice to pass up someone on the offensive side, but ultimately it was a good pick.
