Turf Show Times: Random Ramsdom - 4/29/12

The song ends, and the lights fade to black in New York City's Radio City Music Hall. The yearly party has ended after one of the most exciting drafts in NFL history. During the opening round on Thursday night, 24 million football fanatics tuned their TV and iPhones to watch the telecast. It was the largest audience in NFL Draft history.

Turf Show Times did pretty well too. Have a look at these numbers before we head to the links after the break:

Look at the difference between April 2011 and April 2012. Can you say - WOW! Maybe Ryan will let you know what milestone TST just left in the dust this weekend? Hats off to Ryan van Bibber and Joe McAfee for an absolutely stellar year!

On to the links!

St. Louis Rams select Michael Brockers - This is the first of two links to Mocking the Draft. They have a great breakdown of the pick with the first link. The second link will make more than a few of you groan.

Mike Freeman likes to label - Though a good read, this article was more about Freeman wanting to be the first in line if Janoris Jenkins fails. He tabs Fisher as a guy who's about to make a Pac-Man Jones sized mistake. When did journalists decide writing off a young man in his early 20s was the right thing to do? Let him at least hit training camp Mikey before you turn vulture...

Newly acquired 7th round pick Aaron Brown has some friends on the Rams. One of his friends may be leaving soon though?

It seems Trumaine Johnson and Brian Quick have something in common - It could be why Johnson was taken in the third round of the NFL Draft too...

Steven Jackson and Isaiah Pead play phone tag - This a race that will be won by 4G...

Josh Brown gets the boot by a fan - When Greg Zuerlein was chosen in the 6th round Saturday, he had no idea one of his favorite kickers wouldn't be there when he arrives at Rams park...

Hide the Twinkies! - Rokevious (he goes by "Kevious") Watkins has a problem controlling his weight. Once a robust 368 lbs, he whittled himself down to a svelte 338 lbs for the NFL Combine

Lots of Rams stuff (Can I write or what?) Seriously though, have a read. Interesting tidbits of sundry Rams quotes and Draft gabble.

Ready to groan? - How about a nice Mock draft for 2013? That's right guys, just when you thought you'd seen the last Mock draft till at least the end of the 2012 season, here comes Mocking the Draft! Reach for the Tylenol as you read who the Rams take with their two first round picks...

...And finally, for your morning viewing pleasure... The Draft is a graduation of sorts, so how about a graduation speech by Stephen Colbert?
