With their first pick of the third round, the St. Louis Rams select Montana corner Trumaine Johnson. This was really the biggest surprise to me, the Rams did have every cornerback that was expected to play a big role injured, but to get two this early was shocking.

Johnson has the ability to be a star cornerback, he's big and physical corner.

This pick could spell the end of Jerome Murphy and Bradley Fletcher, both of which are coming back from season ending injuries.

I expect Murphy or Johnson will get a chance to start safety.

The Rams now should have a physical secondary, that can compete and this defense will be way better than they were in 2011.

The question is, who will be apart of this secondary, at the end of the preseason.

Nick Martin talked about, T. Johnson in our small school players article, take a look.

Matt Miller. had this to say about Johnson.

pick Trumaine Johnson - A CB at Montana, Johnson is a FS for the Rams. Another strong football player who doesn't F around. Love it.
