2012 NFL Draft Trade Rumors: More Rams-Eagles-Fletcher Cox Talk

Fletcher Cox. Keep an eye on the defensive tackle out of Mississippi State, says Jason LaCanfora of the NFL Network. Cox could be the guy for the St. Louis Rams and the sixth pick in the 2012 NFL Draft.

LaCanfora notes Fisher's past history with defensive linemen in the draft. He does not cite sources who say anything about where Cox sits on the Rams' draft board, but it's worth considering given the weirdness of the players likely to be available with the sixth pick.

This is not the first time Cox has made an appearance in connection with the Rams. Other mock drafts have had Cox paired with the Rams, despite the addition of Kendall Langford in free agency this spring. For those of you reading the tea leaves at home, it sure looks like the Rams are going to have something like the "wide nine" defensive front in Philadelphia, championed by Eagles DL coach Jim Washburn, who used to work for Fisher in Tennessee.

Something else to think about here is the potential for a trade, a possibility mentioned by Fisher numerous times in recent weeks. Juxtapose that with recent rumors that Eagles could trade into the top-10 picks in order to draft Cox.

People keep mentioning Jacksonville as a possibility for an Eagles trade up, but the Rams might be a more logical guess given Washburn's connection with his old coach and knowing they share a similar taste in defensive linemen.
