Add another name to the list of players visiting the St. Louis Rams prior to the draft. Jim Thomas of the Post-Dispatch reports that Oregon running back LaMichael James will be in town on Monday to meet with the coaches, scouts and staff.
James joins Alabama's Trent Richardson as the other running backs, so far, that the Rams will spent time with prior to the 2012 NFL Draft.
The Oregon product is most likely a second day pick, somewhere in rounds two or three, depending entirely on where teams put his value.
Most have James pegged as a complementary back, a speedster. He ran a 4.45 forty at the Combine and a 4.41 at his pro day. Standing 5'8" and weighing 194 lbs, James is on the small side. His speed is a real asset on the outside. James can also catch the ball and do some damage with his speed in the short passing game.
NFL Films guru Greg Cosell compared James to Darren Sproles.
Asked about L. James. See him in some ways as less physical D. Sproles. A space player in NFL. Must improve pass pro to play on 3rd down.
