NFL Free Agents 2012: Cortland Finnegan And Titans Not Talking

Barring a late change, cornerback Cortland Finnegan is leaving the Tennessee Titans. According to Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean, the Titans and Finnegan have had no contract talks lately. The team's decision to use the franchise tag on safety Michael Griffin rules out that option for keeping Finnegan.

The St. Louis Rams are widely expected to pursue Finnegan to shore up their cornerback needs when free agency opens on March 13. They won't be the only team with designs on Finnegan.

Dallas is supposedly in on Finnegan once free agency opens, filling one of their biggest needs and giving them some flexibility in the 2012 NFL Draft.

Brandon Carr will also be an option for teams, and he and Finnegan represent the top of the free agent class for cornerbacks this year.

Beyond Carr and Finnegan, the market gets a little iffy, with players having injury histories or being over the age of 30.

The Rams are anticipating about $10 million in cap room, once the league finally gets a cap number figured out for 2012. That will likely change as Fisher and Snead start going over the roster. Ron Bartell is a potential cap casualty.
