2012 NFL Draft: TST Community Round 2, Pick 1

The Rams are up again with the first pick of the second round. Charlie Pankey traded with the Redskins to move down to six, where they selected Morris Claiborne (giving them one hell of a secondary). Now, they are going to add:

Stephen Hill, WR, Georgia Tech

Pick Grade:

A

The run game just improved with the best blocking WR in the Draft and someone who can legitimately stretch the defense so eight in the box is just too dangerous. Add Hill to last years picks in the slot and at the number two position, the Rams can once again have a balanced and effective offense.

Analysis after the jump.

Hill is quickly raising his stock after his impressive workouts at both his pro day and at the combine. He's one of those boom-or-bust prospects, but his measurables are enough that the Rams should take a chance on him. He's big, he's fast and he's a heck of blocker, just like Pankey says. However, he has a tendency to drop passes, something Rams fans are all too familiar with.

Let me put it this way: The Rams MUST find fresh faces during the draft at WR. If they don't like Blackmon, that's fine. But they have to find someone. You could do a lot worse with Stephen Hill at the top of round two.
