The St. Louis Rams are still looking for a backup quarterback. They looked seemingly everywhere, from Jason Campbell to Tim Tebow, with varying levels of interest. And still, nothing. New York's acquisition of Tim Tebow may have created an opportunity as recently signed quarterback Drew Stanton wants out in the wake of the Tebow trade.
Exciting, I know. Stanton is younger and a decent enough backup, though not one with any upside or the starting experience that Campbell or David Garrard would have given the Rams.
Among the free agents left, the best player is probably Vince Young, but for some reason I just do not see Jeff Fisher bringing Vince Young into the picture.
Billy Volek is a name Fisher should be plenty familiar with, since he was the backup in Tennessee from 2001-2005. The Chargers recently released him. In 39 games and 10 starts, he has completed 60 percent of his passes with 27 touchdowns and 15 interceptions. Dennis Dixon is another guy worth some consideration. Kellen Clemens is also an option.
