The St. Louis Rams certainly did pull out all the stops in signing free agent cornerback Cortland Finnegan. On Wednesday, Finnegan signed a five-year, $50 million contract with the Rams. That deal did not make him the highest paid corner in the league, but $27 million in guaranteed money topped another landmark deal given to last year's free agent cornerback prize, Nnamdi Asomugha.
According to Albert Brandt of the National Football Post and ESPN, Finnegan's $27 million guarantee beats Nnamdi's$25 million guarantee he got from the Philadelphia Eagles last season.
Asomugha signed a five-year, $60 million contract in 2011.
Finnegan was using some his new wealth at a local eatery on Wednesday night. He and free agent defensive tackle Jason Jones went out to dinner in St. Louis, ahead of Jones' free agent visit with the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday. Hopefully, Finnegan can do something to convince Jones to stick around with the Rams.
