The cost of the second-overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft just went up. Robert Griffin III ran a 4.41 forty at the Combine on Sunday. Not content to stand on that jaw-dropping time, the Baylor quarterback opted to do it again ... and ran an unofficial 4.38 seconds.
Griffin just made the St. Louis Rams very, very rich with draft picks.
Of course, Griffin's forty time is only one small, small part of his appeal to teams. Besides being incredibly fast, he is also pretty good at, you know, the normal quarterback stuff. Steve Young comparisons look right to me.
And about that trade ... Remember, the Rams have already started talking to teams about the possibility of trading down from the second spot. Adam Schefter reported that the Rams have already talked to several teams, in preliminary talks, about moving down. A report late Friday cited the Washington Redskins as one team that the Rams spoke to this week in Indianapolis.

"It's a great opportunity, and it will define the immediate and hopefully the long-term future of this franchise," Rams head coach Jeff Fisher said of the second pick.
That future looks especially bright as of Sunday morning.
