Janoris Jenkins wins NFC Player of the Week honors

Janoris Jenkins in the NFC Defensive Player of the Week. Not a huge surprise, given the rookie's pair of pick sixes that helped the Rams sweep the Cardinals this season and stay undefeated in the NFC West.

Jenkins' interceptions highlighted a greatly improved day for the Rams first-year defensive back. He struggled in recent games, starting with a rough outing in a loss to the Dolphins where his blown assignment gave Ryan Tannehill one of his easiest touchdowns of the season. Jenkins' troubles culminated in a one-game benching against the 49ers after some mysterious violation of team rules. He did return for the Jets game, but the less said about that, the better.

Arizona's quarterback of the moment completed just two of seven passes in which Jenkins was covering the target, according to Pro Football Focus. That's nice, but INTERCEPTIONS and TOUCHDOWNS.

Jenkins is the third Rams player to win a Player of the Week award this season. Kicker Greg Zuerlein and punter Johnny Hekker won special teams honors earlier this year. According to the Rams, Jenkins is the first player on the team to win defensive player of the week honors since Chris Long did in a Week 6 win over the Chargers in 2010.
