Sunday was a good day! After my scathing review of this team from last week, it was good to see a positive game. It helped that Ryan Lindley looked like Ryan Leaf in the second half, but our coverage adjustments were a big reason for that.
Janoris Jenkins clearly had his best game of the season. JJ will always victimize guys like Lindley who stare down their intended target, because Jenkins loves to jump routes. That has caused him to get burned on a few occasions this year. It's a high risk/high reward style of play. If he can learn to judge better which quarterbacks and which routes are good to jump, and which aren't, he's going to be one of the best corners in the NFL.
Jeff Fisher headed to Auburn? - Just mark it down to rumors, for now, but they sure are disturbing rumors to hear. Another reset at head coach? Dear god no...
Rams are finally developing an offensive identity - Every team wants to be the Packers or Patriots or Saints, but some teams (like the Rams) don't have the personnel for that. Being a team that runs the balls 30 times a game, using play action very effectively, and taking deep shots 5-6 times a game can be a very good identity for a team that just needs to try to grind out wins. Hopefully Schott sees what worked this week, and sticks with it.
The Rams crazy route to the playoffs - Yes, it's still possible! I would take some pretty crazy series of events, or a complete collapse by all the other teams in the NFC West, but it CAN happen. Interesting read, even if you don't really buy into their chances.
Other NFL News
Jason Babin released by the Eagles - He had 18 sacks last year! Someone needs to get Andy Reid away from that team right now, because he's decided that if he goes down, everyone else is going down with him. Wow!
Asinine challenge-flag rule may change in time for the playoffs - I'm sure everyone has seen that play again and again. It's a pointless rule, and I'm glad the NFL is quick to jump on it. A 15 yard penalty enforced on the kickoff is plenty if the NFL insists that this is something that must be punished. To remove the review is just plain crazy.
Kendall Hunter and Kyle Williams are both done for the 49ers for the year - Although these two have been impactful players for the 49ers this season, I'm not sure this is such a bad thing. Anything that gives Randy Moss and LaMichael James more snaps can't be that bad. This should mean that A.J. Jenkins will finally suit up...for the first time...ever...
Thanks for the read, and have a Ramtastic day!
