Danny Amendola injury: Rams receiver listed as doubtful

The St. Louis Rams will likely be without the team's top receiving threat this week.

Well this isn't the news you want to hear. Talk about black Friday. The St. Louis Rams have officially listed Danny Amendola as doubtful for this week's game on the road against the Arizona Cardinals.

Amendola is dealing with an ankle injury, wearing a walking boot and everything, suffered last week in a loss to the New York Jets. He missed practice all week. When you read the tea leaves, it means that the Rams will likely be without him this week. His status beyond this week is not clear.

The Rams lost Amendola earlier this season in a Week 5 win against the Cardinals, in St. Louis. He missed three games, all losses, before returning in Week 10 against the 49ers. The Rams tied that one before losing to the Jets last week.

St. Louis struggles without Amendola in the lineup, but that's not a direct correlation. In those three losses without Amendola this season, the Rams have played some of the worst defense of the season, most notably against the Patriots.

Complicating the picture for the Rams offense is Lance Kendricks, who also appeared on the injury report this week with a knee issue. He's listed as questionable which means he has a 50-50 chance of playing. Kendricks has never quite emerged as a viable receiving threat, but his role as a blocker in the offense this year is one of the team's most unheralded performances.
