A tie game isn't the most pleasing outcome for the St. Louis Rams and fans. It's really the perfect metaphor for the 2012 Rams, a team on the on the way up after so, so long in the wasteland, but for as improved as the team is, it's still unwinding the damage wrought by combined year of Zygmunt, Softli, Devaney, Linehan and Spags.
So how does a tie play in this week's power rankings?
Over at SB Nation, the Rams move up from No. 29 to No. 26, three spots which is tantamount to Jim Kramer upgrading your stock to mere junk.
26. St. Louis Rams (LW: 29, 3-5-1): I know you're not supposed to like ties but if you're the Rams you're not that upset at a tie with the 49ers, right?
The Rams moved up to No. 23 on the NFL.com power poll, which now has 3.5X more power! The best part, the Rams top the Eagles on that poll, so there's something we can all delight in on an otherwise dull Tuesday.
National pundits look at the Rams and see a team much worse than the one we do, an team still crawling out of the primordial sludge. A tie stinks for us because we know the team should have won that game. Pundits see a tie game and look back at their 11-point underdog predictions and think of it as a win for the Rams.
