Ah, youth. This year's group of a rookies have given the St. Louis Rams plenty of things to celebrate. More importantly, those greenhorns have become an essential part of the team's success this season, their exuberance helping to push the Rams above .500 for the first time in six years, long before those rookies even started playing college ball. Punter Johnny Hekker is up for the NFL Rookie of the Week award this week for his performance against the Cardinals in Week 5.
Hekker punted seven times on Thursday night. His gross average on those punts was 56.9 yards. He put three inside the 20-yard line. He booted two his punts beyond 60 yards.
Yep, the kid can flat out kick the ball.
Head over to the NFL page and vote for Hekker. He's up against some stiff competition this week, including Andrew Luck who led a pretty amazing fourth quarter comeback to beat the Packers this week.
