St. Louis Rams wide receiver Danny Amendola actually got a real break when he suffered a separated clavicle in Thursday night's win over the Arizona Cardinals. According to Jay Glazer at Fox Sports, the injury could have killed himby slicing an artery in his chest. Amendola avoided that fate, but is in uncharted territory with his injury, complicating a return date.
Training Reggie Scott put Amendola to sleep and popped his clavicle back in place. The injury is a rare one. The Rams called around asking other teams about precedent, but didn't find much. It makes a timetable for his return difficult. He could be out until December; he could return in four weeks.
Amendola's toughness is probably a sign that you should bet on an earlier return, rather than a later one. Still, Jeff Fisher's teams are tough, but the head coach does not press his players upping their injury risk.
