Danny Amendola injury: Rams receiver out 6-7 weeks, per report

The St. Louis Rams could be without Danny Amendola for 6-7 weeks.

Scott Rovak-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

Good news, bad news for the St. Louis Rams. Danny Amendola does not have a broken bone, according to a report from Adam Caplan. He does have a dislocated clavicle, which is expected to sideline him for 6-7 weeks.

The Rams lose Amendola for what is arguably the toughest stretch of the schedule, but one that also includes a Week 9 bye. St. Louis faces teams including Green Bay, New England and San Francisco during that period. Amendola could return just in time for Thanksgiving.

In the meantime, the team's other receivers will need to step up to replace quarterback Sam Bradford's top target. We covered that subject a little earlier. Brandon GIbson will most certainly see more work in the passing game. Brian Quick, Austin Pettis and Steve Smith will likely pick up Amendola's workload in the middle of the field.

Another possibility being mentioned is a trade. That seems unlikely given what's available and the Rams' firm commitment to youth.

There is also the roster consideration here. Scott Wells currently owns the team's only designated to return spot. St. Louis.

Here's the play where he hurt himself, a play that was cruelly tallied up as a dropped pass. \
