The NFL trade deadline usually rolls around this time of year. A new NFL rule gives teams until Week 8 to make deals. One name that is sure to be popping up in trade rumors ahead of the deadline is Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Dwayne Bowe.

It's no secret that with Danny Amendola out with a shoulder injury, the Rams are missing a wide receiver. Brian Quick has some learning to do. Austin Pettis, like the rest, has his moments, but tends to disappear sometimes.

Bowe is 28 years old. He has 20 touchdowns and more than 2,300 yards in the last two seasons. Working with Matt Cassel and all the other exciting quarterbacks in Kansas City. The Chief's top receiver has 34 catches, 423 yards and three touchdowns this season.

Kansas City has Bowe playing after the receiver signed the franchise tender, paying him some $9.5 million. He'll be an unrestricted free agent next year. Trading for him, if he were to be made available, would mean a new contract. It would obviously be expensive. On the other hand, a team can avoid a free agent bidding war in the spring.

It would improve the Rams this season, especially once Amendola returned to action and the team had the two of them. It's a good discussion to have.
